Right around 11pm (our time) on December 29th, or about 6am on the 30th in Iraq. They showed Hussein being led to the gallows and the noose being placed on his neck, but Iraqi state TV froze the picture before the actual hanging.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda are already asserting that the Jihad against the United States and it's allies will intensify. Even though he was found guilty and sentanced to death by a court comprised of Iraqi's.

So, I was watching CNN at 3 in the morning... a car bomb was set off in a parking garage at a Madrid airport. Reps from the airport said they got a warning call 45 minutes before the bomb was detinated.

They said this is the M.O. of Baathist separatists. Saddam was the leader of the Baath Party... Coincedence?

Mongoose Publishing starts pre-painted mini's lines. Starting next year, Mongoose Publishing is planning on releasing both a modern armies miniature line and a re-launch of their Starship Troopers line ... both pre-painted and non-randomized! Man, between this and Slaughter Gulch I am going to be broke as a joke.

I know Mongoose has had a hell of a time with their printing schedules and rules sets, but I did like how they handled the Starship Troopers sculpts, so I have a feeling these will look good at the very least, and be ready for Savaging at the very worst.

Live Rattlesnakes Released In 'Snakes On A Plane' Theater

A couple of teen yahoos decided "wouldn't it be funny if" they released two live rattlesnakes into a theater showing "Snakes on a Plane". These are the future leaders of our country.

And as for SoaP, it wasn't terrible. Ok, yeah, it's a goofy movie, but there were some fun scenes, a couple of quality kills, two (big!) naked breasts, lotsa snake-fu, and Samuel L. Jackson trying to describe a snake over an airphone. "Well, it's kinda brown on top and green on the bottom ..." "Is it an iridescent green?" "No, more olive-y..."

I will say that they did do a bit of snake homework, even if it was only to Google "snake, venom, cure". Too bad they didn't do so much on airplanes ... haven't the writers ever heard of "Mythbusters"?

Get a copy here. Some very interesting rules clarifications. To wit:

The overlord player should start with 3 overlord cards and 0 threat tokens.
Vitality potions should cost 50 coins, not 25 as listed on page 20 of the Quest Guide.
Each hero may only drink 1 potion (of any type) each turn.
The overlord can discard cards for threat tokens at any time, even during a hero player’s turn.
Heroes can no longer immediately turn in a treasure card from a chest to receive its full value. Instead, they must carry the item back to town and sell it for half value in the town shop.
Heroes can only buy treasure cards from the shop if they’ve previously opened at least one chest of that color this game.
A hero may give any item to an adjacent hero at the cost of one movement point. A hero may never give money to another hero.
[W]henever a hero receives an item from another player or from a chest, he may immediately equip that item, dropping or placing other items in his pack to free up the hands necessary for the just-received item.
Monsters can end their movement on or be spawned on to unactivated glyphs, but cannot end their movement on or be spawned on to activated glyphs. If a monster is on an activated glyph, the overlord must move it off the glyph on his next turn. Monsters can always move through or attack into spaces containing glyphs. (Ed: No board lock-outs for you!)

When asked about the rumors surrounding a coming 4th edition: "We find them very Funny.... WotC does like to hear about what fans want in a new edition as some of the items that are coming out this year are from what fans talked about online a few years ago. When WotC decides to announce the release of a 4th edition we will give trade partners and fans ample time to prepare."

Sounds like the rumors are unfounded ... B.D., you were right. There, I said it. :)

[Kevin Wilson, D&D Associate Brand Manager] did confirm that there is no work being done in the development of a 4th edition that would force players to use miniatures to play the game. Most of you know that I'm a big Dragonlance fan. When I heard about an animated movie in the works I was pretty damn excited. I don't know how many times I've wished for something like this since running the War of the Lance modules with Tim Hannon when we were kids. The latest tidbit I found is that Lucy Lawless is voicing Goldmoon. Hm. Ok. Get the Xena-geeks into it, sure. Then, I read this:

"I just did the voice of an animated cartoon for Paramount, called Dragonlance. Obviously it's a fantasy story, with gods and monsters -- (no lesbian subtext). I never felt I nailed animated performance before, so wanted to get a handle on it.

I played a character called "Goldmoon," a Native American. We played around with accents awhile. I didn't know she was Native A till I got there and so didn't have time to research the accent (not many of those where I come from). More staccato! More commanding! More warm! Less disjointed! . . . So, I have been thinking of adding a day to the movie night schedule... mondays as well thursdays.

I know a lot of people have plans... especially with Thursday in the Square going on thru the summer.

The time is still the same.
My house at 8:00, movies start at 8:30.

I am thinking of some lighter fare for the next movie night... possibly "Dead and Breakfast".

The more the merrier - so invite you friends, family, co-workers... strippers...

I have a couch that can comfortably seat 3 (well, two and a half anyway), a comfy chair, some folding chairs, and I can move the coffee table if I need to and get some big beanbag chairs for the floor. The strippers can sit on my lap...

I usually have a variety of pepsi products and a beer or twon on hand - but I have no problems with someone bringing booze, pop, or food.

I have movies and a subscription to Netflix... so I will take requests.

Just a cool tidbit for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen fans:

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier is due for the fall and covers the entire secret history of the LoEG. It starts with the first League, goes into the 1950’s, and right now looks to be about 185 pages of story.

As announced prevously it will have different pages in different sections representing different eras, and a 3-D section that Dunbier said is not a gimmick, has real meaning and that Moore uses the effect in a very complex portion of the story that really suits it.

This one is a legitamately good movie. Watched it right after "The Halfway House".

I saw it a few years ago, I always wanted to pick it up...but I forgot/never knew the title. Just shows what a man can do with a little imagination, some lumber, and some circular saw blades.

One of the most quality kills I have ever seen in a movie.

Dejected, after watching the sabres fucking loose, I was channel surfing- which usually makes me feel better.

I stumbled my way through the premium channels, hitting the info button on any movie I didnt recognize. Then I saw it. Halfway House.

Now, you all know, I dig wacky nuns... and the adelphia description was something about missing girls and an evil nun. OK. Im interested.

I wept at the perfection of this film. Nudity, Lesbianism, Bondage, Miskatonic goddamn university, the necronomicon (not a necronomicon... THE necronomicon) an animatronic cthulhuey tentacle beast, and more nudity and lesbianism.

As soon as this post is published I am going right to ebay to buy the DVD.

So where did the name "Organized Chaos" come from, anyway? Well, it all started in about 1992, I believe. Me, Tom, and Dan had known each other for a while, and I had met Chris at R.I.T., and we were trying to get our respective groups together for gaming and related activities. It was ... problematic at best. Scheduling was a bitch, what with school and work and family stuff and so on.

Somebody (I don't remember who) decided that we needed to get more organized and set the group up with a "club" structure, with game scheduling, a library, dues, that sort of shit. (Hey, it sounded like a good idea at the time!) And, of course, any good game club needs a good game club name.

So there's us, The Three Caballeros, trying to figure out a good name for the group. I think Dan quipped at the time, "You know this is all going to devolve into chaos." I responded, "Well, there's nothing wrong with a little chaos ... so long as it's organized."

And there, like a bolt from the blue, it hit me: Organized Chaos. The perfect name for the perfect game club. It would be glorious!

It wasn't. But that's ancient history now, and the only thing that remains is the name. It's not a bad little name; in my gaming career, I've been a member of:

Rochester Wargamers Association and Guild
Role-Playing Gamers Guild
and Gamer Scum

I'll take Organized Chaos any day.
